It's only been a few weeks since launch, and although there have been a few bumps along the way, I'm happy to announce that Uber Shape version 1.1 has been released! Most of the work has gone into the shop, but there are a good amount of other tweaks as well. The official changelog is as follows:
- Added Coin Duplicator shop item: earn coins faster with this highly sought-after (and likely illegal) item!
- Added Revive Pack shop item: buy 4 get 1 free!
- Coin Magnet multi-level: Coin Magnet is now upgradable, with each upgrade increasing its range.
- Floor color: the floor is colored now too!
- Scaling fixes: Uber Shape should now scale much better across different device resolutions
- Performance improvements
- Tweaked shop prices
- Various other bug fixes and improvements
The first big part of this update is the Coin Duplicator shop item. This item, as the name implies, makes each coin collected in the game worth 2 coins. This item can also be upgraded to increase its effectiveness, maxing out at making each coin worth 4 coins! From a balancing perspective, this is a fairly risky item, as it could allow players to very quickly accumulate loads of coins, purchase a bunch of revives, and have one awesome run (which really doesn't sound all that bad when I write it). With that in mind, it's possible that I may tweak these values in a future update based on player feedback and analytics, but if I do, it would only be to keep the game challenging and fun!
Another big part of this update is the fact that permanent shop items are now upgradable. The only permanent items in the game are the Coin Magnet and Coin Duplicator, which are both now upgradable. So, for example, the Coin Magnet can be upgraded to work across a better range, and as mentioned the Coin Duplicator can be upgraded to increase the coin multiplier given. Upgrades also provides a better UI for showing whether an item has been purchased or not, thanks to new snazzy segmented progress bars instead of the old way of making the entire cell green, which didn't really fit with the theme of the game.
Those are the big items for this update, everything else is fairly self-explanatory. If you'd like to give feedback on anything (which I'd love) you can contact me on any of my social media pages, or through the contact link on this website or on the Uber Shape website. You can also follow me and the game on social media to stay informed of updates and such.
