My name is Matt.
I code ideas to life
I am a programmer from southern New Hampshire. I have a passion for pushing computers to do new things. I've always liked the idea of telling a computer what to do. The puzzle of not only finding the way to get a computer to do what you want, but to do it in the best way, is why I got into this line of work. I like to create things that help and entertain people.
But I believe in so much more than that.
I believe that beautiful code deserves a beautiful way to use it. Too often I find an application with great functionality but a terrible interface. I don't abide by the stereotype that programmers can't also be design-oriented.
I also believe that learning never stops (sorry for the cliche). I don't claim to be an expert in anything, and probably never will, because with constantly-evolving technology, it's near-impossible to ever claim that you know everything about a given subject.
While I am dedicated to programming in general, my primary focus is video game programming. I have an interest in all divisions of game programming, but have taken special interest in gameplay scripting and graphics programming.
Aside from that, I'm a pretty simple guy. I like to keep things minimalistic. I've never been one for calling attention to myself; I'd rather have my work speak for me. I've never been very formal. You probably won't see me in anything classier than a collared shirt, and you'll never hear me introduce myself as "Matthew". I know who I am, and I'm happy with it.
I'm excited for my future in this industry. I'm excited for the things I will get to make.
